• What is LED display? How does it work?

LED display, or Light Emitting Diode display, is a type of visual display technology that uses an array of tiny light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to create an image or text. LED displays are commonly used in many different indoor and outdoor applications where a high-brightness, high-contrast, and high quality image is required.

  • What is the difference between LED display and LCD display?

LED displays can achieve much higher contrast ratios, wider viewing angles, and higher brightness levels than LCD displays. Additionally, LED displays are more energy-efficient and have a longer lifespan compared to LCD displays.

  • What is the difference between indoor and outdoor LED displays?

Outdoor LED displays are designed to withstand harsh weather conditions, such as rain, wind, and extreme temperatures, and are built to be more durable and resistant to environmental factors. They are typically constructed with weatherproof materials and feature a higher brightness level to ensure visibility even in direct sunlight. Outdoor LED displays also often have a lower resolution since they are usually viewed at a further distance.

Indoor LED displays typically have a lower brightness level since indoor environments have lower ambient light levels. Indoor LED displays also have higher resolution since they are typically viewed at a closer distance, the pixel pitch of an indoor LED display can be as low as 0.9mm while that of an outdoor LED display can be 10mm or 16mm. Additionally, indoor LED displays usually have features such as a higher refresh rate or a wider color gamut to enhance the visual quality of the display.

  • What is pixel pitch?

Pixel pitch is a measure of the distance between adjacent pixels (LEDs) on an LED display. It is typically measured in millimeters (mm) and is used to determine the resolution and clarity of an LED display.

The smaller the pixel pitch, the higher the pixel density, and the more detailed and clear the image on the LED display will be. A smaller pixel pitch also allows for closer viewing distances without losing visual quality.

For example, an LED display with a pixel pitch of 3mm will have a higher pixel density and resolution than an LED display with a pixel pitch of 10mm. Therefore, the image displayed on the LED display with a 3mm pixel pitch will appear more detailed and clear.

LED displays with smaller pixel pitches generally require more LEDs, which results in a higher cost.

  • What pixel pitch should I choose?

The pixel pitch of an LED display that you should choose depends on several factors, including the viewing distance, the desired image quality, and the available budget.

If the LED display will be viewed from a greater distance, such as in outdoor advertising or stadium scoreboards, a larger pixel pitch will be suitable since the individual pixels may not be visible from a distance. On the other hand, if the LED display will be viewed from a closer distance, such as in indoor advertising or conference rooms, a smaller pixel pitch may be more appropriate to ensure a higher resolution and image quality.

As a general rule, the smaller the pixel pitch, the higher the resolution and image quality, and the higher the price.

As a guideline, a pixel pitch of 2-3mm is suitable for indoor displays viewed from a moderate distance, while a pixel pitch of 8-16mm is appropriate for outdoor displays viewed from a greater distance.

  • What size should I choose?

The size of an LED display that you should choose depends on several factors, including the viewing distance, available space, and the content that will be displayed, and the available budget.

One important consideration is the viewing distance. If the LED display will be viewed from a relatively close distance, a smaller screen size may be appropriate. Conversely, if the display will be viewed from a greater distance, such as in an outdoor setting, a larger screen size may be necessary to ensure that the content is visible from a distance.

Another important consideration is the available space for the display. You should choose a display size that fits comfortably within the available space. Most LED display panels have fixed panel sizes, so often you won’t be able to get the exact required size but a similar one.

Finally, you should consider the type of content that will be displayed on the LED display. If the content will be primarily text or simple graphics, a smaller display size may be appropriate. If the content will include complex graphics or video, a larger display size may be necessary to ensure that the content is displayed clearly and legibly.

  • What method of installation do I need?

Here are some common methods of installation for LED displays:

    (1) Wall mounting

This is a common installation method for indoor LED displays, where the display is attached directly to a wall. Wall mounting is a simple and cost-effective method of installation and is suitable for smaller displays. Wall mounting will make the whole structure look slimmer but it requires the LED display panels to be 100% front service, which means all parts of the LED display panels should be able to removed from the front.

    (2) Floor-standing

This method involves installing the display on the floor using a custom-built support structure or a pre-built floor stand. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor displays and is ideal for larger displays.

    (3) Hanging

This method involves hanging the display using custom-built hanging bars which are compatible to the LED panels. It is suitable for LED displays with lighter panels, usually only for indoor displays and outdoor rental displays.

    (4) Building facade

This method involves mounting the display onto the building facade, often in the form of a large-scale video wall. It is usually used for outdoor advertising displays, but requires specialized installation techniques and may require approval from local authorities.

    (5) Ceiling suspension

This installation method involves suspending the display from the ceiling using brackets or wires. It is suitable for indoor displays in areas with high ceilings or limited wall space.

  • How much does the installation cost?

The cost of installing an LED display can vary depending on several factors such as the size of the display, the type of installation required, the location, and the complexity of the project.

  • Can I re-configure the LED panels once they are installed?

Yes you can re-configure the LED panels as many times as you want, and you can install them into different shapes and designs. Our team will provide assistance for redesigning your LED screen as needed.

  • What should I do if we have a dead pixel on the LED panel?

You can simply replace the module with a dead pixel with a good spare module. During the warranty, we will fix (or replace if they can not be fixed) any malfunction parts for free.
